Angela Okune

Code for Science and Society

From 2015 - 2021, I studied data practices and infrastructures of research groups working in and on Nairobi, Kenya in order to explore broader questions of equity, knowledge production and socio-economic development in Africa. I received my doctorate in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine and currently work as a Senior Program Manager at Code for Science and Society. I serve as an Associate Editor on a collective editorial team for the Open Access journal, Engaging Science, Technology, and Society as well as a student representative on the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) Council. I am also a Design Team member of the Platform for Experimental Collaborative Ethnography (PECE) and founding member of the experimental, open ethnographic data portal called Research Data Share (www.researchdatashare.org). I have experience running social media campaigns; managing websites via Wordpress sites; grant writing; and setting up and managing a research organization in Nairobi. I am interested in collaborating with others interested in dynamic archiving as research practice. For more: https://angelaokune.me/about/
