JNU | CSSP | AI & Society
I am PhD student at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Centre for Studies in Science Policy. I studied Engineering in Computer Science branch from National Institute of Technology, Agartala, India. Post engineering, for a couple of years I, worked for an MNC as a Database Engineer. Then I quit my job and traversed all over India for six months with the money I saved to find out the grass-root issues in India. This introduced me to a whole new array of possibilities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence and Big data on our society. Drone technology used by Crop insurance companies is helping farmers to claim compensation while on the other hand, the dominance of English, catalyzed by technology is challenging India's local literature to flourish. I have organized multiple workshops, academic conferences, also first of its kind online digital program to give a platform to vivid Indian culture here.
Currently, I am working to observe the influence of AI on social order. Interdisciplinary research problems motivate me as it can help me invest my diverse experience in research work.
I would really want to contribute to the best of my capabilities with whosoever wants to work on the intersection points of technology, culture, and society.
I am really thankful to 4S for giving this great opportunity to connect with fellow researchers. I hope together we will raise some critical questions and come up with better solutions.
