The way the authors struggle with shifting the seemingly straightforward concepts of space and place from national registers of STS to..., well, something else, was very familiar, although the answers they provide were strikingly different from our own piece. While theirs is closer to a genealogical take on the notion of place and space, our contribution tried to be an argument for an ontological rethinking of these concepts.
The gist of our motivation behind telling a story of STS in and through Turkey lies in this sensitivity, therefore, has less to do with representing STS at a nation-state scale. Throughout the article, we intended to question the taken-for-granted assumptions in reflecting on STS practices in a country by using the analytic of place and space. (p.17)
