TRANSNATIONAL STS: THEORIES, PRACTICES, AND PEDAGOGIES

Text

EASST + 4S PRAGUE 2020 CONFERENCE PANELS

TRANSNATIONAL STS: THEORIES, PRACTICES, AND PEDAGOGIES

3pm Prague time (CEST) on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of the conference (August 18, 20, 21). See time conversions.

This stream of panels was organized to continue discussion about the challenges and potentials of transnational STS -- which really gained momentum at  4S Sydney in 2018, where TRANSnational STS was the conference theme and there was a special exhibit focused on STS Across Borders. The momentum continued through 4S New Orleans and the special exhibit focused on Innovating STS (which again focused on STS formations in a wide array of settings). In New Orleans, a lunchtime discussion focused on transnational STS was packed with people eager to take transnational STS in diverse directions. Today, as COVID-19 continues to wreck the world, the discussion is all the more important. We hope you will join us.

Panel description here. Abstracts here. The collection will also include a pre-recorded interview with STS journal editors (from Tapuya, East Asian STS, Catalyst, and Science & Technology Studies), focused on ways they have thought about and strategized transnational STS in their journals. Working papers or recorded presentations will be available in advance so each panelist will speak for under five minutes, leaving plenty of time for informal exchange and meaningful discussion.
