Critical Commentary

Student group blueprint extracted from the digital portfolio system Digication. We modeled the structure of this assignment on Value Sensitive Design principles. The location of investigation was near Charlottesville, VA. Full course information can be found within the Global Classroom Group. This project started with a proposed new building manager granted a huge pile of money by an alumni donor to support yoga. That didn't really go well for the Board of Visitors and Presidents office since it didn't fit into the plans. The scope of the project expanded to a new central building that would be a collaborative, biophilic, interdiscplinary, healing, modular space. Two student groups were asked to provide ideas on how the space might be built to encourage openness to community presense, integrate smart systems, and function according to community needs.
