Biosketch:

As I think about the many possible paths that I can travel to get to the year 2040, I hope that whichever ones I choose will allow me to feel like my mind is alive! I imagine that these paths will make room for work that is fulfilling, for research and activist engagements that critically attend to the ways technology shapes and is shaped by our lives. If I am lucky to be able to do this imagining while at a university, I would appreciate nothing more - universities often have allowed me access to resources and connections that I would otherwise not have been able to develop on my own. Even if not, I would still like to work in an area that involves interacting with young people, whether as a teacher, facilitator, or mentor. I am not sure if that kind of work will be something that I will be lucky enough to do full time, or what it might look like for me to balance working with young people alongside research. I do know, however, that who I am in 2040 - as well as who I am now - is maybe only 30% shaped by work commitments, so I anticipate that I will find other things and communities that make my heart happy. I know that the ways I can - and will - imagine myself in the future are more expansive than I can imagine right now.
