Rohit Negi Collaboration Bio

I’m an Associate Professor of Urban Studies and Director of the Centre for Community Knowledge at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi. My graduate training was in Urban Planning and doctoral work in Geography. My interests are quite varied though there is a common thread linking spatial and political ecology perspectives as the means to approach environmental/ecological concerns. These have included copper mining in Zambia, toxic air in the Delhi region, and built environments in the Himalaya. Over the last few years, I’ve been drawn to collaborative work, and have contributed to alternate publication/dissemination strategies, including short films, primers, photo essays, and community-based exhibitions. I’m currently working on a publication entitled ‘People’s Geography of Delhi’, planned as an illustrated, oral-history-based story of several neighborhoods of the city that are usually not included in official histories.
