Critical Commentary
People have lost their homes. Or they cannot enter them. I do not have power or water in mine. My home raises other concerns. Or rather, it is the 14-story apartment building next door that does. It has been evacuated. Its walls are fractured. They are 4 meters or so from my windows, 5 meters from where I sleep. An office building two blocks away has collapsed. People warn me about the risk of after-shocks, but I want to sleep at home. I know I am putting myself at risk. I stay anyway. Home is home. I can’t justify it otherwise.
