Tunde Opeibi

Tunde Opeibi is Associate Professor (New Media & Digital Cultures) University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has been Visiting Professor, Chemnitz University of Technology and Senior Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He has also been a Visiting DAAD scholar at the 7th European University in Summer School in Digital Humanities, Leipzig University Germany. Opeibi has served as Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Speech & Communication as well as the head of the Directorate of Speech Duties, Governor’s Office in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the current founding chair and principal investigator at the Digital Humanities Research Unit, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos. Dr. Opeibi has been pioneering the Digital Humanities in Nigeria.

His research interests are in New Media and Digital Cultures, Discourse Studies, Political Communication  and Sociolinguistics.

This essay highlights prominant and upcoming individuals working on critical science and technology issues in Africa and is part of a broader exhibit on "STS in Africa."
