STS Critical Pedagogies: ESTS 2024 Thematic Collection

This essay organizes data artifacts published with Issue 10.1-2 of the 4S journal, "Engaging Science, Technology and Society" (ESTS).

CURATION STATEMENT 

The data in this essay accompanies the publications in the ESTS thematic collection "STS and Critical Pedagogies". The collection builds on the online workshop "STS as a Critical Pedagogy" that took place during the summer of 2021. The data collected can be seen as both resources and contributions to what will hopefully become a broader archive of practice, theory, and reflection about what STS as a critical pedagogy might look like in different spaces, places, and times. The Collection consists of an Introduction on "Collaborative Formations at the Intersection of Pedagogy, Engagement, and Research" by Angela Okune and Emily York, a collective contribution by the participants of the workshop titled "Provocations from the 'STS as a Critical Pedagogy Workshop", and five additional collective and individual articles: "Feminist Theory Theater" by Sarah Klein, Christina Aushana, Yelena Gluzman, Michael Berman, "(Self) Critical Pedagogy: Performing Vulnerability to Teach STS in Singapore" by Monamie Bhadra Haines, "Spaceships and Poetry" by Rachel Douglas-Jones, Baki Cakici, Marisa Leavitt Cohn, Simy Kaur Gahoonia, Mace Ojala, Cæcilie Sloth Laursen, "Teaching and Learning with Situated Data" by Anita Say Chan, and "Teaching the Politics of Numbers with EthnoData" by Maka Suarez, Jorge Núñez, Mayra Flores.
