The Annual Conference for the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) in 2017 featured a variety of talks and papers relevant to the formation of STS in/on Africa. While this was not a conference devoted specifically to "STS in Africa", there was a critical mass of scholars present that helped further facilitate the formation of a community of scholars.
