Estrid Sørensen's collaboration bio

Text

I am a professor of anthropology of knowledge at the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany. My current key research interests are university data centres and experimentalist data studies. Together with collaborators in the Collaborative Research Centre "Virtual Lifeworlds" I study a university data centre as a mediator between planetary resources and knowledge production. We do ethnographic research among data centre operators, scientists and practices involved in the value change of resources and energy used to build and maintain a data centre. Through this research I hope to get closer to understanding the relationship between planetary resources and knowledge production. My second current focus, "experimentalist data studies", is an attempt to formulate an approach to data studies based on feminism, de-colonialism, ANT and American pragmatism. I am a former Council member of EASST and a current board member of stsing e.V. (a German STS network). I am the head of the RUSTlab. Here is my homepage.
