This resource developed by the UC Berkeley's Museum of Paleontology for their project Understanding Science helps science teachers working with middle school and higher grades to expand and complicate the scientific method/process.
The emphasis here is on showing students the real process of scientific inquiry. Scientists can have many motivations for research, they rely on a scientific community for testing and articulating their ideas and research findings, the process of testing and hypothesis formation is far from inductive or linear, and that scientific work has consequences for society.
