CalTeach Winter 2022 Book Club Package

This is the book club material for Winter 2022 that CalTeach participants picked up early in Janurary. We planned to meet every Thursday for 6 weeks during Winter 2022 to engage with, Teachers of Color by Rita Kohli, which was a book of their choosing. The package includes a book club schedule, a bookmark with their name, and a notebook that is used for critical reflection journaling and document moments in their life that relates to the content discussed in the book. We needed to order more books because there were 12 students who expressed interest in taking part during Winter 2022, which was more than anticipated. We were concerned initially because we did not have enough packages to for everyone to pick up.

Book Club Pit Stops

This exhibit will include the various pits stops throughout the book club journey, which I conceptualize as being a few of the actionable steps the collective makes. For instance, students reflect and share on how they foresee themselves taking action in different spaces including class, when navigating with teacher colleagues, or their families. Importantly, the actionable steps can look different, thus there will be different collections of actionable steps.
