About Ecuadorian LGBTQ Awareness Month

We will promote October as LGBTQ Awareness Month in Ecuador by hosting weekly radio programs with 'Sin Etiquetas', the first LGBTQ radio show in Cuenca. 'Sin Etiquetas' has allowed the LGBTQ community to generate alternative public spheres where non-binary sexualities are brought to light and talked about by everyday citizens.

We will be gathering key activists, lawyers, artists, and historians to help us reconstruct the past, contextualize the present, and strategize towards a more tolerant future. Along with information gathered in the radio programs, we will also conduct archival research on the LGBTQ community in Ecuador for the creation of a comic book (ages 15+) to promote literacy on this topic, accessible in print and digital form.
