Biography

I am a second-year postgraduate student in the centre for the study of social systems (CSSS) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. I studied B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I also did a Master in Sociology from the CSSS, JNU.

My current research is on personalized medicine. I am trying to understand three central themes with respect to personalised medicine. Firstly, the political economy of personalised medicine, i.e. how capitalism is reinventing itself in life sciences and biotechnology. Secondly, how power relation between doctor-patient is changing in the practice of personalised medicine. Thirdly, personalised is a preventive, predictive, precision and individualised medicine that is largely based on genomic analysis of individuals and populations. So I want to understand personhood in the context of personalised medicine.
