I am a PhD candidate in anthropology at McGill University. My research tracks efforts by state climate scientists in Minas Gerais, Brazil to address the joined challenges of the climate crisis and rising authoritarianism. Through an engagement with the horror genre, I am interested in the ways that these challenges expose the limitations of traditional modes of science and politics as well as the creativity which emerges in efforts to create new forms of thinking and action. After having completed my undergraduate degree in philosophy, I am more generally interested in how empirical research supplements and challenges abstract theory in both anthropology and climate governance.
