Critical Commentary

When we started the Digital Due Process Clinic at Cornell, we did not have a lot of resources. However, one thing we created right away was a $25 set of business cards that student researchers could use. What seemed like a somwhat anachronistic idea (to put it mildly) turned out to be a popular addition to our toolbox. Student researchers used it to identify themselves during fieldwork in the local community, for example, by writing their own email address or number on the back. They also reported that the card gave them a sense of confidence and belonging. While business cards may not meet the needs of any group or project, they were an effective and community-building artifact for us.
