Yesmar Oyarzun Collaboration Bio

Text

My name is Yesmar Oyarzun. I am a graduate student in the cultural anthropology program at Rice University. My research project explores how physical differences in skin color impact how dermatologists learn and practice their medical specialty. I do ethnographic work among dermatology residents who work in environments in which seeing diverse populations is an unavoidable part of their learning experience and learn how they cope with limited knowledge and technical resources for responding to patients with darker skin. I am an organization extraordinaire, particularly in digital workspaces, and can bring a clearheaded approach to data management in a collaboration. I have also newly taken up pushing the boundaries of what counts as knowledge and try to think with out-of-the-box empirical and theoretical sources. I am interested in engaging with 6S to meet people with similar interests from all over.
