Critical Commentary

Downey and Zuiderent-Jerak describe practices of making and doing in terms of critical participation and reflexivity. They identify and characterize different elements and ecological dimensions of “distinguishable clusters of STS making and doing” (226).

The STS Futures Lab is particularly interested in how to facilitate felicitous travel of knowledge and expertise across boundaries. The authors here describe a kind of reflexivity and open-ness to multi-directional flows of communication and knowledge-making that seem necessary to achieving these goals.
