Critical Commentary

This mural in SF's Clarion Alley depicts a rendering of the online map of no-fault evictions since 1997 and highlights the portraits of eight people fighting their evictions, along with Alex Nieto, killed by the SFPD in 2014 as a result of gentrification. Passersby can call the wall at +1 415-319-6865 to hear narratives of displacement and resistance. The mural painting was led by Carla Wojczuk in 2015, and based upon the AEMP's larger narrative work. It has been upkept and redesigned since then by numerous AEMP volunteers.
