Biography

My name is René Catalán Hidalgo, and I'm an urban sociologist currently in my second year of a Ph.D. program in anthropology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. The research I am conducting aims to understand our relationship with the atmosphere and its phenomena, focusing on what I have termed “the global and daily unfolding of aeromobility”. My interest begins with exploring the unpredictable nature of atmospheric phenomena and expands to comprehend how such a complex network required to sustain aeromobility interacts with and relates to these phenomena. I'm very excited to be part of this group and to engage with people who are at a similar stage in their academic journey. I hope we can get to know each other, support one another, and learn from each other. As a newcomer to the STS community, I still have much to learn, so I deeply appreciate this space and hope that together we can grow and delve further into understanding the challenges our society faces.
