Critical Commentary
This is an introduction to the special issue in volume 5 of the journal NatureCulture of the same title. "Science fiction" here is proposed as ethnographic data that provides entry points for rethinking the distinction between "real" and "fictional" in anthropology, STS and beyond. Methodological experiments of looping, recursion and lateral movements promise to enable us to start thinking across ontological difference.
